Seamus Bellamy | Writer: Mac|Life Magazine

Mac|Life Writer Seaumus Bellamy brings to our attention this interesting and creative new way to interact with your iPhone. Forget the iPad! Here’s the iTable! Read Seamus’s report here:

Ignoring the iPhone’s diminutive size, Steve Jobs recently commented on the fact that the when it comes to touch-based devices, size is everything. During an earnings call with the company’s investors and the media, Jobs quipped about the disdain he held for touchscreen devices with less than seven inches of screen real estate, saying “While one could increase the resolution of the display to make up for some of the differences, it is meaningless unless your tablet also includes sandpaper, so that the user can sand down their fingers to around one-quarter of their present size.” Either out of respect for Jobs’ unfaltering sympathy for hot dog-fingered tech users, or a dire fear of sandpaper, a group of intrepid developers have undertaken the development of a new way to work Apple’s smallest touchscreen device.

It’s big. Literally.

TableConnect | iTable?

Table Connect utilizes a jailbroken iPhone, a mission-specific app and an enormous custom-built 56-inch capacitive touch screen table to embiggen your iPhone interface to a size that would make even Paul Bunyan’s meaty digits feel right at home. According to the developer’s website, by hooking your jailbroken iPhone to the table’s built-in dock connector (now there’s a lawsuit waiting to happen) you’ll be able to every aspect of your iPhone. At this point, only a prototype mock up of Table Connect has seen the light of day. However, the device’s developer has posted a countdown clock to their site, promising a big reveal in just a little bit over four days from now. When it happens, you know we’ll be there to bring you up to speed on it.

Ready Solar 2

World's first completely pre-assembled, all AC solar electric system.

Solar in a Box is the world’s first completely pre-assembled, all AC solar electric system. High quality and leading edge components are assembled in a factory controlled environment. This significantly reduces the complexity of design and installation of a solar electric system.

In addition to reduced installation costs, the unique Solar in a Box design offers end users distinct performance and aesthetic benefits:

Micro-inverters convert DC electricity into AC at each panel. This feature increases the output of each panel and significantly reduces production loss caused by shade.
Dangerous high voltage DC electricity is eliminated.
Unsightly exterior wall mounted equipment is eliminated.
The sleek frame integrates the system into the roof like a skylight.
Modular design allows for easy future system expansion.
Pre-assembled design simplifies future roof maintenance.
Proactive and interactive web-based monitoring included.

GREENTECH: Question: Home automation systems consume large amounts of energy right or wrong? Answer: Wrong!

Crestron TouchpanelHome automation systems require relatively little power, and the energy-conservation benefits they offer are considerable. These systems make it simple to check if you’ve left the lights on and turn them off and often incorporate multizone climate-control systems to shut down heating or air condition in areas of the house that are not being used.

Motor-driven shades can be programed automatically by astronomical clocks to open and close at key points in the day, automatically adjusting the timing of these routines to the length of day at any time of year, protecting furniture, fabrics and flooring from harsh sun rays and keeping the house cool when the sun wants to take overtake your home. The home automation system touch panel can also report on energy use, energy cost per hour, and carbon output of a lighting system.
